I find the green/yellowish light from last version made the picture too muddy, so I changed the light source to more purple to create some color shift.

Let's see some details on the head, neck and shell of the creature (texture of shell doesn't need to be highly detailed, start with big shapes/pattern to establish the surface and have those shapes in accurate perspective). Of course let's also have some nice expression for the girl. I would try to have the ocean a bit darker and contrasted (maybe even with the characters), or maybe just the creature. Try it quickly with an adjustment layer(Levels or Curves) and see the difference.
